I AM happy to answer the query from your concerned reader G E Thomas. The language courses referred to are demand led and based on the level of successful provision in previous years, i.e. there is a good demand for Spanish so there are four courses, a small number of learners wanting German, so only one course is offered, alas there is very little call for French in Barry therefore there are no courses offered this year. If, however, this article prompts a sudden rush of Barry residents wanting to study French at the reasonable rate of £127.50 for 15 lessons for band A, £96 for band B we will happily oblige, sadly experience tells us otherwise. French is offered at levels 1, 2 and 3 in Sully.
On the subject of the Welsh Language offer, this provision is funded separately and offered via Cardiff University’s ‘Welsh for Adults Centre’ in line with Welsh Government policy.
We do offer crèche facilities at our two main centres in Barry; these facilities are available to all learners for all subjects at a very reasonable cost.
