I AM writing to let your readers know that up to 80 per cent of type 2 diabetes cases could be delayed or prevented by eating more healthily and getting more exercise.
People in Barry may be inspired by BBC Wales’ recent Live Longer Wales season of programmes to make some positive changes to benefit their health. The series takes a look at some of the biggest health threats that we have here in Wales, including being overweight, eating unhealthily and not getting enough exercise.
These are all factors that can increase your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. But, by taking a look at the BBC series and website or visiting Diabetes UK Cymru’s website you can pick up lots of easy and practical ways you can make changes that could help you live a longer, healthier life and also reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Finding out your risk of developing type 2 diabetes is easier than you may think. You can visit our roadshow bus which is currently travelling across Wales giving people risk assessments, use our online risk assessment tool or speak to your GP.
For more details visit www.diabetes.org.uk. It could be the best thing you ever do for your health.
