I READ with dismay the article about Vale Council payments totalling £841,249.80 (Barry & District News, May 29).
It goes to prove the case that the Vale has to be merged with South Glamorgan to at least save money on these ridiculous payments, thus allowing practical use of our money.
It has been stated that the councillors will be less than halved when the merger happens.
Long gone are the days when councillors used to give their time and efforts for free, while holding down other employment, and then it was for the benefit of the town not their own pockets.
