EU elections

First published in Letters

ON May 22, the people of Wales will have the chance to elect their representatives to the European Union.

Plaid Cymru knows that Wales benefits greatly from being a member of the EU. We want to reform the EU, which means staying inside in order to fight for change.

Wales’ trade with Europe is worth £5 billion to our economy every year.

Up to 150,000 Welsh jobs are dependent on it – that’s one in ten Welsh jobs.

We also benefit greatly through European funds which invest in our communities, support our farmers and which could be used to help improve our road and rail network.

But this is under threat because both the Labour and Conservative parties want to change the EU and remove these Welsh advantages.

Only Plaid Cymru can be a voice for Wales in Europe because only Plaid Cymru puts Wales first and foremost every day at all levels of government.

We want the best for Wales – and right now the Westminster and Welsh Governments are not providing the best for Wales.

I believe a vote for Plaid Cymru will be a vote to put Wales first in the European elections.
