I AM really concerned about the proposals to change the running of our Vale Library Service.

It would appear that the Labour-led Vale of Glamorgan Council are seeking to make big changes to how this service is provided.

Having had a glimpse at the consultation exercise looking at the future of the service, it seems, with the loaded questions, that the authority is looking to change it from a public service to a commercial service such as an advertising service.

The future certainly does not look good for the service as it will not continue to provide the service as at present due to cuts from Cardiff Bay.

Could this be another blow to the good people of Vale? We are being let down and, whilst more and more is getting taken away from us, all that seems to happen is that our Council Tax increases way above inflation. Remember last year and Labour’s big whammy of 4.8%? Remember Labour’s election pledge of the immediate restoration of the mobile library service?

If the library service is to be cut in any shape or form, I ask what will it be next?
