WHAT happens to the litter picked up by council workmen from the parks, roads and litter bins in the Vale?
I know a large amount of litter is picked up from the roads by council workmen, and cans, paper, plastic and glass bottles deposited in litter bins are also emptied by them into orange bags, which are then collected by council lorries driven around the Vale.
Do these bags full of recyclable material go into landfill or is it sorted?
If the answer is the former how much is this costing us, the council taxpayers, in landfill tax?
It seems to me if the bin and street waste is not recycled but sent to landfill it’s another case of the council telling us that we must recycle but not doing it themselves.
