Plaid’s tax position

I WAS interested to read of local resident Barry Shaw’s disappointment with the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s recent setting of council tax at 4.8 per cent (Barry & District News, March 14).
Mr Shaw’s letter praised a different, slightly reduced tax proposal raise proposed by Plaid Cymru.
Could this possibly be the same Barry Shaw who as a Plaid Cymru councillor was voted out of his position after he and his fellow Plaid colleagues voted through several near five per cent rate rises whilst in shared control of the Vale themselves a few years ago? I would also like to place on record that I voted against any rise in the Vale’s council tax burden on residents.
