THE children of Llancarfan Primary School have been joining in with the campaign to save the school. All the children have been severely affected by the decision of the Vale of Glamorgan Council, put forward by the Education and Lifelong Scrutiny Committee, to close Llancarfan, Llanfair and Oak Field Schools.

Children throughout Llancarfan are making posters and writing letters to get involved. They may be young but they all love their school and have a passion to keep it open.

My daughter, aged six, has wanted to get just as involved as the parents and governors of Llancarfan Primary School. She made posters for the cabinet meeting on March 4, saying how much she loves her school, has written letters to the members of cabinet pleading with them to keep the school open and her photograph asking people to join Llancarfan's campaign to save the school and to like the facebook page 'save Llancarfan Primary School' has had nearly 2000 likes.

She was devasted to hear that her school might close, along with hundreds of other young children from all three schools. I was the one who had to tell my daughter of the proposed closure and had to dry her tears, comfort her and tell her I'd fight to keep the school open, and now at the very young age of six she is determind to fight the decision alongside parents and governors.

I am writing this on behalf of every child that has been affected by this proposal from all three schools to try and help people understand the impact it has on every child's life and I hope that the cabinet members read this and can see how many people are willing to fight the proposal of closure, not just adults but the children it will have a major impact on too.
