AN open letter to all ex-pupils of Ysgol Gymraeg Sant Baruc.
You will all be aware that Welsh medium education in Barry has been an outstanding success story and as ex-pupils, you have all contributed to the success of this story.
However we know that many of you feel quite frustrated that after leaving secondary school (Glantaf and Ysgol Bro Morgannwg) you have had great difficulty in finding opportunities to speak Welsh in an informal setting.
We would like to put this right. We aim to set up AFIAITH - a group of ex-pupils which will meet to socialise in Welsh and have a bit of fun. It will also be a great opportunity to catch up with old friends.
Don’t worry if your Welsh is a bit rusty – it will all come back. And if you now have children yourselves - and they are pupils in any of the Welsh schools in Barry - imagine how much more confident you will be to help them with their education.
We will be meeting for the first time in the Mount Sorrel Hotel in Barry on Friday, March 1, at 8pm. What better way to celebrate St David’s Day than by rediscovering the language of heaven and joining AFIAITH. Dulyn Griffith a Gwenno Huws
