Boy's tears

WE are writing to your newspaper to raise concerns that we deeply object to which effects the future of education of the children in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Firstly the proposal of changing the feeder school system from primary to secondary education, which would prevent children to continue their education with their friends which they have made during their primary schooling, regardless of the proven smooth transitions that have previously been made.

What happened to the parental choice?

Secondly, the proposed closure of two rural vale schools, Llancarfan Primary and Llanfair Primary.

Both of these are extremely high achieving schools with excellent Estyn inspection reports, making them top achieving schools in Wales not just the Vale of Glamorgan. So they reward the most excelling schools with the threat of closure, as good education paramount, can this be justified?!

Having told our seven-year-old the threat of his school being closed his words through his tears were "please don't let them close my school, I love it."
