I WRITE in respect of the Welsh Government’s decision to make it the law to publish hygiene ratings for establishments serving food to the public.

Although we now have to wait for this law to be passed by the British Parliaments and be given royal assent, we at least see an example of good practice being brought forward by the legislators in the Bay.

I am sure that many others will welcome this initiative which will make it compulsory for all hygiene ratings to be displayed. At the moment those with poor ratings make no effort to make the public aware of their failings and although this information is available on the internet I feel that members of the public are putting their health at risk by eating at these establishments.

I look forward to this information coming into the public domain at the earliest possible moment in time.
