Thank you for snow help

First published in Letters

SINCE the report of our activities in last week’s paper, we were hit with a further fall of snow, and again CAVRA has been busy providing assistance in the community – especially to the University Hospital of Wales, the Ambulance Service and the Police.

We have also been working in partnership with South Glamorgan RAYNET (Radio Amateurs Emergency Network) by providing additional communications.

I am now pleased to say that the total figures for both events are: 100 taskings, with 100 persons rescued, a further 12 assisted, and two urgent transfers undertaken.

Ten volunteers attended, providing 299 hours of “on-task” assistance, covering 2,881 miles in very difficult conditions.

May I take this opportunity to thank all the team, who did an absolutely marvellous job!

Ivor Davies Chairman & director of operations Cardiff and Vale Rescue Association (CAVRA)
