Let’s bridge the age gap
7:00am Thursday 10th January 2013 in Letters
EVERYONE’S Future is a new, intergenerational partnership project between Vibe Experience and Age Concern Cardiff and The Vale. The project is funded by the Big Lottery until 2014, with two new Age Equality Workers aiming to tackle negative stereotyping and age discrimination against younger and older people.
As part of the project, the Everyone’s Future Working Group – which is made up of project staff, older people, young people and professionals – has been set up. This group has the opportunity to help shape the project, assist at events, spread the aim of the project and may form the catalyst for further intergenerational projects down the line. The meetings are informal and everyone will have the chance to give their opinions and ideas.
The first meeting in November was a huge success, but we are still looking for older and younger people to volunteer their time to help tackle the important issues of the project. This would be a great opportunity for people who would be interested in working in events, media and film, community and care work along with providing you the skills of working with younger and older people.
The second meeting will be held on January 15, at The Cardiff Story, The Old Library, Trinity Street, Cardiff at 4pm. If you are interested and would like some more information contact Louise David, Age Equality Worker (Young People) via email at louise@vibeexperience.com or call 01446 700622. You can also contact Hannah Lewis, Age Equality Worker (Older People) at hannah.lewis@ age-concern-cardiff.org.uk or 02920 683694.
