Mean act

I RECENTLY heard that floral tributes had been removed from the base of a tree in Porthkerry Park, Barry, following a complaint by just one person. The tributes had been left by the wife, family and friends of a man who collapsed and died there last April. His wife often visits the area to feel close to her husband and it seems a great pity that someone objected – when dog faeces, cigarette ends and other unmentionable litter is much more offensive.

Considering this was their first Christmas without him, surely the small comfort that these tributes gave to the family could have remained. The area is well away from any main thoroughfare and at this time of year, peace and goodwill to all should prevail.
