LAST Thursday we were privileged to attend the Schools Shakespeare Festival held at Barry Memorial Hall. During the evening we were treated to spectacular half hour performances of Macbeth by Gladstone Primary, A Midsummer Night’s Dream by High Street Primary, Twelfth Night by Romilly Primary, and Romeo and Juliet by Murch Junior.
These performances were outstanding; the obvious hard work put in by the children and their teachers over many months involving rehearsals after school and during the holidays resulted in entertainment of the highest standard. An independent assessor from the festival’s organisation lavished great praise on all four performances. Parents and governors of the schools involved must be very proud of their children.
This festival takes place around the country and the obvious enthusiasm of the youngsters taking part proved their involvement to be a success.
We look forward to being equally entertained at next year’s festival.
