TRIBUTES have been paid to former Barry Town Council chief executive Derek Wolfe who died suddenly on September 24.

The 58-year-old, formerly of Broad Street, had also been a member of the Rotary Club of Barry since May 2006, and President Elect Peter Battle said: "He was an eager member and in 2010 he volunteered to start the progression to becoming Club President.

"His input was always well considered and valued. It was a great disappointment to us when he had to move away, although he did remain a member of the club.

"All the members were shocked and surprised by the news of his sudden passing and he will be missed by all of us. "Our thoughts go to his wife Lynette and the family."

Derek became Marlborough's town clerk earlier this year.

Barry Town Council clerk Cliff Lewis said: "Derek's former colleagues and local councillors were shocked by the news, and send our condolences to his family."

His funeral will be held in Axminster, Devon, on Friday, October 12. Donations can be sent to Barnardo's c/o J F Clarke & Son, Maryknoll, Lyme Street, Axminster EX13 5AU.
