A BARRY Island chippy has issued a free nosh invitation to a top-selling girl band, after they announced they were desperate to visit the resort.

Chart-topping group the Sugababes - Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen – last week told Real Radio Wales breakfast show presenters Jagger and Woody that they loved Wales and wanted to visit the home of Gavin and Stacey.

Jagger asked if they had been to the seaside resort and they confessed they had not.

Heidi said: "We want to go Barry!" before adding they were "massive fans" of the award-winning comedy, and that she and Amelle had been doing impressions of them earlier in the car as they travelled to the radio station.

Neil 'Boofy' Clemo, who owns Boofy's Codfather of Soul - the Western Arcade chippy featured in Gavin and Stacey - said the Sugababes were welcome to visit his establishment any time.

Boofy is no stranger to providing food for music stars, having helped feed Dire Straits, Jeff Healey, John Cougar Mellencamp, Marillion, OMD, Jennifer Rush, Elaine Paige, Billy Ocean, Was (Not Was), The Farm and Cameo during his earlier catering career.
