Homeless dogs who need your help...

4:40pm Sunday 22nd November 2009

THE BARRY and District News has joined forces with the Vale of Glamorgan Dog Warden Service to publicise the work of the area's kennels – and to find homes for some of its residents.

They include Holly, a two-year-old female mastiff cross. She is a friendly and loving dog and has lost an eye – but this does not affect her quality of life.

Lillie is a Staff cross and is around seven years old. She has paralysis to her right side, but is still active and has a healthy zest for life.

Lexi is a four-year-old Patterdale cross and would need a home with no other pets. She loves her walks and playing with her ball.

Croft Kennels at Bridgend is where the Vale's stray and unwanted dogs are cared for.

The purpose-built kennels in Coity become the temporary home for all dogs picked up by the Vale of Glamorgan Council's Dog Wardens, until they are reunited with their families or adopted by new ones.

The Vale Council's Dog Wardens are eager to stress that adopting a dog is a big commitment and they are always happy to offer advice to anyone considering giving a dog a home.

The kennels are open between 11am and 6pm seven days a week, and anyone wishing to adopt a dog can contact: Croft Rescue Kennels, Waun Davey House, Heol Llan, Coity, Bridgend CF35 6BU. Tel: (01656) 862288; website: www.croftrescuekennels.com
