YOUNG adults in the Vale are among the latest in Wales to benefit from the UK Government’s Future Jobs Fund, with 96 new jobs set to be created in the area over the next 18 months.
The successful bid for Government cash, by the Vale Council, was announced this week as part of the fourth round of bids for funding from the Department for Work and Pensions initiative, which will create 150,000 new jobs across the UK for 18-24 year-olds, as well as people in unemployment hotspots.
Secretary of State for Wales, Peter Hain, said: "It’s great to see that young people right across Wales will benefit from the Future Jobs Fund.
"We know the longer someone is out of work, the less likely they are to ever return, so it’s essential we act now to help the next generation of workers around the country.
"Those who get jobs through the Future Jobs Fund will be paid at least the minimum wage, get the opportunity to learn new skills, and possibly forge a career for themselves."
