THE MUM of murdered teenager Conner Marshall has vowed to continue fighting for justice for her family and other victims of crime.

Conner, 18, died four days after he was attacked by stranger David Braddon at a Porthcawl caravan park in March 2015.

Braddon, then 26, of Caerphilly, was on probation. He claimed he mistook Conner for someone else, pleaded guilty, and was jailed for life.

The family believe that had Braddon been monitored more carefully and punished for his repeated failings to meet his licence conditions that Conner would still be alive today.

Mrs Marshall has taken her #AVoiceForConner campaign to meetings with Welsh Assembly Plaid Cymru leader, Leanne Wood, Tory leader Andrew RT Davies, and Labour Welsh Government first minister, Carwyn Jones.

She said: “All have pledged their support for us as a family and our determination to expose failings and to get justice for Conner. We have to give them the opportunity to shout for us as they have access to people, agencies and departments that are refusing to speak to us.”

The family has also asked the Assembly to question why the chief coroner has taken more than a year to reply and reach a decision on a second inquest.

She said: “Our legal team have now requested a hearing date or we will have no option but to go to the High Court with our application.”

“I’ve worked blinking hard and relentlessly for #AVoiceForConner. I’m not ready to roll over and accept the preventable murder of Conner.

“I am determined to help and support current and future victims of crime. There needs to be support in Wales for victims and their families not just offenders.

“Victims must be recognised as real people, not statistics. Not having a recognised voice or choice is inexcusable.

Mrs Marshall will travel to London next month to meet with victims commissioner for England and Wales, Baroness Newlove and Ministry of Justice policy makers.
