ROMILLY Primary School parents were delighted to present their storybook ‘Why Can’t I Win?’ to pupils during a special assembly on Wednesday, March 14.

During the assembly the Barry parents received special certificates for their contribution to the project.

The book, written in collaboration with author Mike Church and illustrated by Andy O’Rourke, was funded by the Putting Families First Project that works with parents, schools and communities across the Vale of Glamorgan.

Family liaison officer at Romilly Primary, Nerys Evans said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with our parents to produce such a brilliant storybook. During the assembly it was fantastic to see how delighted the children were and how proud they were of the mums involved.

“A big thank you to Families First for providing this wonderful opportunity. I have been involved in the project for six years and this is one of the most rewarding projects I have taken part in.”

The story focuses on the importance of playing fairly and learning that sometimes it’s ok to lose. The fantastic illustrations and text take readers on a journey through a sequence of well-known children’s games, where the key character learns that having fun is the most important thing when playing.

Copies of the book are available to borrow at Barry Library, King Square.
