KFC in Barry remains closed due to a lack of chicken, with the fast-food giant citing 'teething problems' with their new delivery partner as being behind the issue.

The problems began emerging over the weekend, just four months into a contract between KFC and courier firm DHL, and have forced a number of branches across the UK to close temporarily. Many of those that have remained open are only offering a limited menu.

In a statement released on KFC's Twitter account on Saturday (February 17), the firm said: "We've brought a new delivery partner on board, but they've had a couple of teething problems - getting fresh chicken out to 900 restaurants across the country is pretty complex!

"We won't compromise on quality, so no deliveries has meant some of our restaurants are closed, and others are operating a limited menu, or shortened hours."

There is no confirmation at present as to when the Barry outlet is set to reopen, however details are set to be updated on kfc.co.uk/crossed-the-road for all nationwide stores.

The store remains closed as of Tuesday morning (February 20).

A KFC spokesman said: “Our teams are working flat out all hours to get the rest (of the restaurants) back up and running as soon as possible – but it’s too early to say how long it will take to clear the backlog.”
