VOLUNTEERS from Hanson Contracting have provided materials and path-laying expertise as part of the refurbishment of the memorial garden at Ty Hafan children’s hospice in Sully.

Hanson Contracting has been involved in the garden upgrade project alongside Costain/Vinci JV and other key partners.

Work enhancing the outside space at the hospice includes extending the memorial garden and creating a new sensory area for children and their families to enjoy.

The new pathways, laid by the Hanson team will help link all the outside space and, along with new planting, will provide a richer therapeutic experience for hospice patients.

Sean Hunter, major projects manager at Hanson, said: “We are delighted to be involved in the project.

“Ty Hafan is a wonderful charity which provides care and support to life-limited children. The garden provides a place for family and friends to remember and reflect and we are looking forward to seeing the finished result.”

The new memorial garden at Ty Hafan, established in 1999, will incorporate suggestions from those that use the hospice.

It will feature an enchanted forest, outdoor shelters and edible planting for the children receiving care as well as an interactive water feature for the placement of personalised memorial pebbles when a child dies.
