THE Big Wrap 2017 will work with the Vale Council to provide gifts to disadvantaged children and young people who receive nothing or little this Christmas.

Last year, more than 1,000 gifts were provided to 350 children living across the county and the team hopes to help more in 2017.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s community investment team is one the several partner supporting this year’s appeal.

Run by volunteers, The Big Wrap relies entirely on donations from local organisations and members of the public.

The Big Wrap can receive toys, new and unwrapped, gift tokens or financial donations.

This year’s wish list includes board games, doll sets, train sets and toiletry sets for teenage boys.

Big Wrap coordinator, Susan Lloyd-Selby said: “We are so grateful to members of the public for their generous support. Every present we receive will be given to a child or young person who might otherwise receive nothing or very little for Christmas.”

The Big Wrap is asking people, if they can spare the money, to add an extra gift in their basket while doing their annual Christmas shopping.

Donations can be taken to the Vale of Glamorgan Civic Offices, in Holton Road, Barry, until Friday, December 15.

Cheques, made payable to ‘The Big Wrap’, can be sent to Coastlands Church, Tennyson Road, Colcot, Barry CF62 9TN.
