MORE than 330 Vale residents contacted the Welsh Government Warm Homes Nest scheme last year for help heating their homes and reducing energy bills.

The Nest scheme’s 2016/17 annual report, published by the Welsh Government, shows more than 13,300 households across Wales were helped last year and over 98,000 households since the scheme started in 2011.

More than 150 low income households in Vale of Glamorgan also received energy efficiency home improvements funded by the Welsh Government.

Over 29,000 households across Wales have received free energy efficiency home improvements through Nest since 2011 including central heating systems and insulation.

Head of Nest, Ross Kirwan said: “We are delighted by the success of the scheme over the past year as we continue to help people who are struggling to heat their homes and worry about their energy bills.

“As we approach the autumn, I would encourage all households who may benefit from our help to contact us. Nest is open to all households in Wales and provides advice on saving energy to help reduce the cost of energy bills.

“In addition to advice, people who live in a home that is hard to heat and receive a means tested benefit may also be eligible for free energy efficiency home improvements from Nest.”
