SIXTY teams of bikers geared up to raise thousands of pounds for life-limited children at the weekend, on behalf of Sully based charity Ty Hafan's Taff Trail Cycle Challenge.

Each team of four pushed themselves to the limit by taking on either the 79km or 41km route.

A father whose son was supported by T? Hafan as a child called the cyclists an “army of Angels”.

Peter Russ’ son Connor attended the children’s hospice until he reached the age of 18. Although the family no longer attend the hospice, Peter was at the event on Sunday to volunteer as a sweeper marshal.

“Even though my son Connor now no longer uses T? Hafan as he has reached adulthood, they still provide support to his brother, myself and his mother,” said Peter.

“We feel a part of the T? Hafan family as it has helped us tremendously over the years to deal with our son’s problems.

“T? Hafan is like a focal point for the public to show their support for families like mine who are going through similar things, and through events like the Taff Trail they raise much-needed funds. This is why I enjoy helping and supporting those people who give up their precious family time by entering events like this.

“It gives me great pride to think of all those who enter as an army of T? Hafan Angels, who give their time and money to help show all those young children and families that they are loved and to have a place to turn to when it is needed.

“So thank you to everyone who enters and helps on the Taff Trail on behalf of all the children and families.”
