A MAN who began his career as a teenager producing shows in a Barry church has been called to work in London’s West End.

Christian Bullen, who founded and is the director of Barry-based talent academy Superstars in the Making, has been hired as assistant producer for the Page to Stage season of New Musicals based at Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new theatre - The Other Palace.

The three-week season is an international platform for new musicals, with entries from all over the world.

Mr Bullen, 27, will be working alongside producer Katy Lipson, who is currently producing The Addams Family UK tour as well as the musical Hair, in London.

Mr Bullen said: “I am so excited to be working on such a fabulous project in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s newest theatre. Katy Lipson is an inspirational producer to work side by side with. From when I started producing my first shows at the age of 14 in Windsor Road, Barry, to now working with the best in the industry, I couldn’t be happier.”

He also recently worked on Promises Promises - the musical at Southwark Playhouse - and the UK premiere of Lizzie! The Musical, in Greenwich.

Internationally, he is travelling to Hong Kong, Beijing and Guangzhou, China, and Dubai in April, where he is currently branching out Superstars in the Making as a drama education brand.

As principal of Barry’s Superstars in the Making academy, he will be producing a new show called NYC, in Barry, this June featuring South Wales’ top talent.

In July, he will host an international drama academy based in Barry, welcoming students from his Chinese academy to Wales to train alongside his Welsh students.
