The following cases were heard at Cardiff and Vale Magistrates' Court sitting at Cardiff:

Rebecca Giltinan, aged 41, of Heol y Llongau, Barry, pleaded guilty to three counts of failing to notify the Department of Work and Pensions about a matter which would affect her entitlement to benefits and one count of fraud. A community order was made requiring 120 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months and she was ordered to pay a £60 surcharge.

Mark Jason Haggard, aged 42, of Vere Street, Barry, pleaded guilty to stealing chocolate. He was sent to prison for 12 weeks. He was ordered to pay a £115 surcharge.

Mark Wicks, aged 55, of Tordoff Way, Barry, pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.

Darren Paul Hyde, aged 32, of Williams Crescent, Barry, pleaded guilty to contacting one count of contacting a person by mobile and at visited their home address wile prohibited from doing by a restraining order and one count of contacting a person by mobile prohibited from doing by a restraining order during the period of a suspended sentence. He was sent to prison for a total of 24 weeks. He was ordered to pay a £115 surcharge.

Nicola Ann Marie Robson, aged 38, of Narbeth Court, Barry, pleaded guilty to eight counts of theft during the period of a suspended sentence and a community order. She was sent to prison for a total of 20 weeks and ordered to pay a £115 surcharge.

Neil Dennis Haggard, aged 35, of Herbert Street, Barry, pleaded guilty to drink driving and driving without insurance. He was fined £400 and his licence was endorsed with 10 points. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £40 surcharge.

Dean Anthony Trotman, aged 29, of Pendine Close, Barry, pleaded guilty to failing to register an address as part of the sex offenders legislation. He was fined £250 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.
