A CANCER charity’s fund has been boosted to the tune of almost £900, following an annual concert in a Barry park.

Barry Brass band has announced that its annual Carols in the Park event, in Victoria Park, Cadoxton, in December raised £896.60 for Macmillan Cancer Care.

Band spokeswoman, Rowena Hughes said: "The band were delighted by the amount of people attending and this was reflected in the magnificent total raised.”

The band thanked the event supporters which included Cadoxton Bowling Club for the use of their Pavilion, Carol at Roy's Toys, Tesco Cadoxton, and Dow Corning for its donation.

Ms Hughes added: "A very big thank you to Mr Jon Greatrex and his team at Victoria Park whose support is invaluable."

The band is scheduled to perform a series of outdoor concerts this year.

It will be at Victoria Park, Cadoxton, at 2pm on Sunday, May 14; Knap Gardens at 2pm on Sunday, June 4; and Knap Gardens on Saturday, June 10.

More future dates will be finalised and announced.
