A FORMER Barry resident and author has released her third book following the success of her previous releases.

Now living in Monmouth, Naomi Rettig's new novel, Universal Murder, strays away from her usual genre of comedy and delves into the crime thriller and sci-fi scene.

The novel is about Lexi King who has switched over to a parallel universe, due to a freak glitch, and finds herself the chief suspect in her husband’s murder. Except she doesn’t have a husband, the other version of herself did.

Lexi must eliminate herself from police enquiries, to avoid getting arrested before she can attempt to switch back to her correct universe.

She is assisted by hospital porter Nathan who studies the phenomenon of parallel universe travelling.

After already doing well in the Amazon charts, a sequel is in the pipeline.

Ms Rettig said: "I’ve been asked by readers who enjoyed it if there will be another Lexi adventure, and I do have another murder in my head for her to solve so, yes, there will be a sequel.

"I’m not sure if it will be my next one though as I’ve already started on a project which is completely sci/fi fantasy, but it’s on my to-do list."

Currently studying for an English Literature degree, she writes in her spare time.
