A BARRY Weight Watchers coach has been given national recognition for her work in inspiring members to adopt and live healthy lifestyles.

Debbie Spargo, who runs three classes in the town, was presented with her first diamond award recently.

Plans personalised to each member’s age, gender, BMI and lifestyle shows how committed she is helping every of her members achieve their goal weight, it was said during the presentation.

She has also been able to equip local residents with the skills and techniques required to build a positive relationship between food, mind and body for good, it was added.

The award celebrates coaches who have provided exceptional support to their members during their weight-loss journey and is only given out once every two years to a select group of Weight Watchers experts across the country.

Mrs Spargo, who has been a coach for nine years and lost 1.5 stones herself, said: “I am over-whelmed on receiving this award and so proud of my Weight Watchers members who have been instrumental and the core reason why I have won this.”

Weight Watchers’ Smart Points, or no-tracking option No Count, guides members towards healthier food choices based on more than calories alone.

Mrs Spargo’s Weight Watchers classes are held at Highlight Park Community Centre, Stirling Road, on Mondays at 9am, and Wednesdays at 6pm, and at Pioneer Hall, on Beryl Road, on Thursdays at 6pm.
