A HOUSE was "severely damaged" by an early morning fire over the weekend.
Six fire crews from Barry, Penarth and Ely were called to the detached property in Brookfield Avenue, Barry at 5.05am on Saturday (January 14).
They used hosereel jets, breathing apparatus and a water tower to extinguish the blaze by 7.38am.
Two cars near to the house were damaged but there was no damage to the neighbouring houses.
A spokesman for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said it was an accidental fire caused by an electrical fault in a dishwasher in the garage.
There were no reports of any injuries.
