THE following cases were heard at Cardiff and Vale Magistrates Court:

Geraint Thomas Chatwell, aged 38, of Glenbrook Drive, Barry, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol. He was fined £400. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £40 surcharge. He was also disqualified from holding a driving licence for 14 months.

Alex Richard Morris, aged 30, of Melville Close, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol. He was fined £100. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge. He was also disqualified from holding a driving licence for 14 months.

Jade Elizabeth Miller, aged 21, of Vere Street, pleaded guilty to stealing meat and a £29 black bomber jacket with a white fur hood. She also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to custody. She was ordered to serve a community order and pay £40 in costs. She was also ordered to pay £29.99 in compensation and a £55 surcharge.

Ryan Megraw, aged 20, of St Athan, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol. He also did not stop or give his name or address to a person involved in an accident with other vehicles. He was committed to a young offender institution for 10 weeks and disqualified from driving. He was ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £115 surcharge.

Nathan Andrew Dancey, aged 31, of Ty Cwmpas Rhodfa'r Gwagenni, pleaded guilty to assaulting someone. He was sentenced to prison for 12 weeks. He was ordered to pay £85 in costs. He was also ordered to pay £150 in compensation and a £115 surcharge.
