The following cases were heard at Cardiff and Vale Magistrates' Court sitting at Cardiff:

Renee Marie Vrettos, aged 40, of Hillary Rise, pleaded guilty to stealing magazines worth £6.52 from WHSmith. She was fined £40. She was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.

Andrew Paul Kerry Zalick, aged 48, of Redbrink Crescent, pleaded guilty to stealing a £3.99 Lynx box set from Home Bargains. He was fined £100. He was also ordered to pay £85 in costs, £3.99 in compensation and a £30 surcharge.

David Alan Case, aged 53, of Davies Street, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol which exceeded the prescribed limit. A community order and curfew with electronic monitoring were made. He was disqualified from driving for two years. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £85 surcharge.

Rory Jack Heslop, aged 21, of Dulverton Drive, Sully, pleaded guilty to driving having taken a drug - Delta Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) - which exceeded the prescribed limit. He was

fined £120. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.

Daniel Nelmes, aged 29, of Ogmore Place, Barry, pleaded guilty to damaging a set of police handcuffs and failing to comply with supervision requirements made following his release from prison. He was sent to prison for seven days and a community order was made requiring 160 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months. He was ordered to pay £50 compensation, £170 costs and an £85 surcharge.

Marcus Darren Tagoe, aged 48, of Maes Yr Ysgol, Barry, pleaded guilty to two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, two counts of possessing an offensive weapon in public and one count of harassment. He was sentenced to a total of 18 weeks in prison. A criminal behaviour order was made for two years and he was ordered to pay a £115 surcharge.

Geraint Thomas Chatwell, aged 38, of Glenbrook Drive, Barry, pleaded guilty to drink driving. He was fined £400 and disqualified from driving for 14 months. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £40 surcharge.

Alex Richard Morris, aged 30, of Melville Close, Barry, pleaded guilty to drink driving. He was fined £100 and disqualified from driving for 18 months. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.
