THE following cases were heard at Cardiff and Vale Magistrates' Court sitting at Cardiff:

Darren Paul Hyde, aged 31, of Williams Crescent, Barry, pleaded guilty to stealing one four pack of lager and one four pack of cider and a separate count of stealing two four packs of lager. He was discharged conditionally for nine months and ordered to pay a total of £17.10 compensation. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £22 surcharge.

Wayne Gino Burnell, aged 32, of Dyfan Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour, driving without insurance and driving whilst disqualified. He was disqualified from driving for one year. A community order was made with a curfew requirement for 90 days with electronic tagging. He was fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 surcharge.

Matthew Backley, aged 26, of Gibbonsdown Rise, Barry, pleaded guilty to assault. He was fined £83 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.

Julie Louise Harris, aged 41, of Buttrills Walk, Barry, pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour. She was sent to prison for four weeks and ordered to pay a £115 surcharge.

Christian Harrison, aged 53, of Buttrills Walk, Barry, pleaded guilty to taking a vehicle without consent, stealing a passport and failing to surrender to custody. A community order was made requiring 100 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 surcharge.

Christopher Cook, aged 28, of Maes Lindys, Rhoose, pleaded guilty to assault and unlawful damage of a door. A community order was made requiring 60 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 surcharge.

James Edward Rudman, aged 31, of North Walk, Barry, pleaded guilty to stealing 19 packets of various meats. A community order was made with an exclusion requirement of three months. He was ordered to pay £76 compensation.

Scott Alexander Hardy, aged 25, of Commercial Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm. He was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months. He was ordered to pay £1500 compensation and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £115 surcharge.

Jack Peter Saunders, aged 18, of Holton Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to possessing a quantity of the class B drug cannabis. He was discharged conditionally for 12 months. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 surcharge.
