YSGOL Bro Morgannwg maintained a 100 per cent A-level pass record, with the Welsh-medium school bettering its performance – by two per cent – on last year.

Eighty-four per cent of all entries were graded at A* to C, matching last year’s performance, with 60.3 per cent of grades made up of A* to B - an increase of 0.3 per cent.

Head teacher Hwyel Price said: “We take pride in the success of all pupils who have reached their potential and have worked so tirelessly to achieve what they deserve. The Welsh baccalaureate is a particular strength of the school with all pupils benefitting from refining a wide variety of skills.

"100 per cent of pupils gained A* to C grades with 68 per cent gaining A* to A grades and 91 percent A* to B grades.

"All 10 Btec grades were graded at distinction * to pass grades.”

He added: “I wish to congratulate all pupils on their results and in particular Ben Popham, the head boy, for gaining two A* and two A grades thus gaining entry to Cambridge University to study medicine, Dafydd Foster Davies on the four A grades to study philosophy at Oxford University, and Rhiannon Berry also with four A grades to study a Biomedical degree at Durham.

"Teilo Evans excelled with one A* and three A grades and I wish to make a personal reference to William Rees, a truly inspirational young man who has overcome so many traumatic experiences and gained an A* and two A grades.

"Congratulations to all the pupils and staff and we wish all pupils every success in the future.”
