TRIBUTES have been paid to the Barry-born former president of Welsh Netball who died this week.
The "heart and soul" of netball in Wales Wendy White BEM died on Monday (August 15), aged 76.
Miss White was involved with the Welsh netball scene for over 50 years prior to her death which followed a long illness.
She was awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen's New Year's Honours list in 2012.
In 1987, the Miss White moved to Australia to pursue her love of the sport, with the All Australia Netball Association and the Queensland Netball Association. 
She returned to Wales in 1991, living in Cardiff and carrying out various netball roles, becoming a coach with Welsh Netball - and later its president.
She was also credited with being a founder member of Barry Netball Club.
In her latter years she was heavily involved at Dinas Powys Netball Club, where she was described as being the club's "heart".
Catherine Lewis, Welsh Netball chairwoman, said: “Wendy was a key figure in the organisation for countless years. Wendy was heavily involved in almost all aspects of the organisation, from the administrative side, organising events, running competitions, governance, and relished in the netball life in Wales.
“Her dedication to the sport was inspiring, and her enthusiasm was infectious. Wendy will be a great loss to the close-knit netball family in Wales. We offer our deepest condolences to her family at this difficult time.”
Dozens of tributes poured in to an online memorial set up in honour of Miss White. 
In the memorial she is described as being the "heart and soul of netball in Wales".
Lesley Riddell, chairwoman of Cardiff and District Netball Association, described Wendy as "a marvellous role model" and "a great friend and support to many in the netball community" who will be "greatly missed".

Miss White's funeral takes place at Coychurch Crematorium on Thursday, August 25 at 1.15pm.
