A MOTHER and son have rescued an abandoned rabbit, after it was found stuffed in a pillow case.

Johannah Davies, of Cadoxton, has given Lucky the rabbit a new home, following its ordeal.

On Tuesday, August 2 Miss Davies' friend was walking her dog between Mill Wood and Porthkerry Park, when the dog stumbled across a black bin bag.

After the dog ripped open the black bag, Miss Davies' friend unwrapped the pillow case and found six rabbits wrapped inside.

"They were different colours - two white, two black, one grey and one black and white," said Miss Davies.

"My friend could see that the five were definitely dead - then she spotted a small black and white rabbit blink.

"She took it and brought it to me because she has pets already so couldn't take it in."

The rabbit, which is estimated to be about six to eight weeks old, was found covered in faeces.

Miss Davies, at one point, thought that the rabbit 'wasn't going to make it' as it was very weak.

"I was syringing him with water - that's how young and weak he was," said Miss Davies.

"For a while after we had Lucky, he would sit motionless then shake like a leaf.

"Lucky seemed to be totally petrified by anything that moved - including us."

The tiny black and white rabbit was taken to the vet for a health check up, and was given the all clear so returned to the new home.

Miss Davies, a single mother to one, said: "Lucky is on the mend, but who could do this to an animal? It so upsetting thinking about what Lucky went through.

"My son Jack absolutely loves the rabbit.

"Lucky's obviously been abused, but hopefully with us she can return back to normal."
