BARRY Town Centre mural has been vandalised for a third time.

A building wall, near to the murals, has been defaced with graffiti, with a mural ripped off and left on the ground.

The murals, a series of paintings hung on the wall behind Holton Road, were last vandalised in May this year.

It is believed that the incident happened on either August 2 or 3.

Eve Jones, who was visiting a family member in Barry, said: "My aunt is absolutely outraged at this mindless act. What is wrong with people?

"That stretch of road is accompanied by beautiful pictures, yet someone has had to vandalise a road near it and rip off a mural

"This has spoilt the area."

Paul Williams, of Barry, spoke of his 'horror' that the area had been vandalised for a third time.

"This is the third occasion that this particular area has suffered from graffiti," said Mr Williams.

"I walked round there to see the damage and it is truly a horror.

"And that poor mural has been damaged again."

Sergeant Bryn Glennie said: “This latest act of vandalism by one maybe two individuals is not a reflection of the community of Barry.

“People deserve better after the work that many of them put in last year to brighten up the area.

“I hope somebody with information does the right thing and comes forward - they can remain anonymous if they prefer by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“We will continue to investigate this incident and work will also continue to restore the area to its former glory.”
