A BARRY school has been busy fundraising to buy new playground equipment for pupils.

Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg has held fairs, quizzes, sponsored events, film nights, fancy dress competitions and raffles to fund their new Trim Trail.

Chairwoman of the school's Parent and Teachers Association Hazel Evans said: “Our PTA is known as ‘Cryf’ which means strong in Welsh and really sums up the fantastic relationship between home and school that we have at Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg.

“The pupils had loads of fun taking part in the activities and parents have really got behind what we are trying to do, joining in with lots of social events. It’s been really good having the goal of items for the playground to focus on.

“As well as the Trim Trail climbing frame that has recently been installed, we’ve also raised enough to buy other things like football goals and sporting materials. These little extras all help make playtimes and PE lessons fun for everyone and get the thumbs up from the kids.

“The school still has a long wish list for us to turn our attention to such as raising money for items for the other playground and IT equipment. I would like to thank everyone who has been involved so far – including many local businesses who made generous contributions – and encourage everyone to keep up the great work."
