HUNDREDS of people flocked to Barry Island on the hottest day of the year so far.
Visitors to Barry Island enjoyed basking in the sun, paddling in the sea and playing mini golf on Tuesday (July 19).
Temperatures exceeded 30 degrees as a heatwave swept across south Wales
Many food and drink stores saw a large increase in customers, with Barry Island traders also noticing a remarkable increase in profits.
Marco Zeraschi, owner of Marco's Cafe, was "in-undated" with customers.
He said: "We couldn't close at 9pm - that's the volume of customers we were dealing with.
"We're in our element with this weather. We've been waiting for this kind of weather."
Henry Danter, owner of Barry Island Pleasure Park, described business as "truly terrific".
"I spoke to some employees that said the same as me - it was terrific.
"The arcade was absolutely jam-packed.
"We still have a way to go in developing Barry for the better, but for all the money we receive we will invest it back into the town," said Mr Danter.
