A KIND-HEARTED Barry lad who recently won a young citizen award has donated his prize money to two charities.

Bailey Sloan, whose 100 acts of kindness earned him recognition from Rotary International, and £500, has now split his prize money between homeless charity Llamau and animal charity, Cats Protection.

The eight-year-old was also awarded a trophy in thanks for his good deeds, which included clearing litter from the beach, presenting passers-by with roses, and leaving chocolate gifts on doorsteps.

Bailey, who has ADHD and autism, visited the Holton Road offices of Llamau on Thursday last week, where he met staff members who who spoke to him about the work they do to support young people who are experiencing homelessness.

Bailey said: “I’m really happy that Llamau will use my money to be kind to other people.”

Llamau chief executive Frances Beecher added: “We’re just overwhelmed by Bailey’s generosity and his donation to Llamau in particular. It is truly inspirational to hear about a young man who has been so motivated to donate to charity. It’s been wonderful to have him at our offices in Barry and it’s been a pleasure to show him the difference that his donation will make to young people in the area.”

Bailey’s mum, Lisa Harrhy said: “I am so proud of Bailey and the kindness he has shown to others.”
