YOUTH organisations in Barry have begun preparing to showcase all that they do at an event to be held at Barry Island in October.

The Showcasing the Youth event, back for a second, is scheduled to take place on the eastern promenade, starting at midday, on Saturday, October 1.

The event brings together all the youth organisations in the town as an informative event to the community in Barry and its youth.

An event spokeswoman for the event said: “This is a community project that involves the youth, parents, grandparents, and the many organisations that provide opportunities for the youth: a complete package for the community of Barry to be involved in.

We as a committee organising this event look for support locally for local community matters. We keep expenses to a minimum, but as in every event there is always an

element of expense.”

Event organisers hope to use some of the beach huts and feature stands from different youth organisations, to include both able body and disabled opportunities.

It is hoped Barry library and the Barry YMCA will be represented. There will be displays by swimmers, lifeguards, beach volleyball, dancing, singing, gymnastics, and netball teams.

Scouts, cadets and guides and the V-POD bus will be on site.

Asda, Barry, is lending its support to the community event by allowing with a one-day bucket collection.

Barry Youth Action Group, who speak and act on behalf of the youth of Barry, will be collecting and bag packing on October 1.
