EIGHT students from a Barry-based dance school have successfully auditioned and won places to perform in the English Youth Ballet’s production of Sleeping Beauty.

Chloe Bagnall, Amber Hamling, Leah Davies, Eleanora Smalley, Elizabeth Angove, Ellie Clarke, Louise Bagnall and Bridget Peake - from Nicola Peros Ballet - were all selected to perform alongside professional ballet dancers in a full-length version of the Tchaikovsky ballet when it comes to the New Theatre in Cardiff, on August 12 and 13.

The Nicola Peros Ballet School continues to go from strength to strength with former pupils currently progressing their training with the top vocational dance schools in the UK including The Royal Ballet School, The Hammond School, Chester and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London.

A junior associate with The Royal Ballet School and currently training with Nicola Peros, Stefanie Maurer, recently attended a RAD workshop with Ballet Cymru and was awarded a medal and £20 in RAD vouchers for her outstanding performance during the workshop and Mid Associate with The Royal Ballet School.

As well as being selected to perform in Sleeping Beauty, Bridget Peake has been offered a summer school place to train with the prestigious Elmhurst School of Dance in Birmingham which is associated with the Birmingham Royal Ballet Company.

The Nicola Peros Ballet School was also chosen to take part in the Lord mayor of Cardiff’s Matinee performance earlier on this year at St David’s Hall.

The school will also host a range of open days for budding young male dancers and ballerinas on May 13, 14 and 15.
