SULLY-BASED family hospice charity Ty Hafan has appointed Kate Phipps as its new chief executive officer.

With 15 years’ senior management experience, Ms Phipps joins T? Hafan from John Taylor Hospice in Birmingham where she led their successful journey out of NHS ownership to become a gold standard not-for-profit social enterprise.

She said: “Everyone I have met, in whatever they do, has conveyed their passion and commitment to the children and families we support. T? Hafan has a huge heart, a tremendous team spirit and it’s a privilege to be appointed CEO.

“T? Hafan enables life-limited children, young people and their families to embrace all that life has to offer in circumstances that are the most trying. At T? Hafan, our job is to make that a little easier.”

She will also take part in T? Hafan’s Barry Rainbow Run, May 7 alongside 1,200 other participants.

She said: “I am inspired by the support for T? Hafan from the people of Wales and am look forward to joining some of our incredible supporters at the Rainbow Run.”

T? Hafan chairwoman, Maria Timon Samra said she was delighted to welcome Ms Phipps to the organisation.

She said: “It is a busy time at T? Hafan with increasing demand for our services and I am confident the charity will go from strength-to-strength under her leadership. Kate inherits a professional, committed, highly experienced team and will work with them to deliver our strategy and to lead our innovation in a world that is increasingly challenging for charities.

“T? Hafan is such a rewarding charity to be a part of. You get to see first-hand how the children and families benefit and witness how much they derive from the services and activities available to them.”
