VALE MP Alun Cairns has maintained his position as the fastest MP in the UK after achieving a personal best in the London Marathon.
The newly-appointed Secretary of State for Wales achieved a marathon personal best of 3.28.02hrs for the 26.2 mile course and has so far raised more than £5000 for The Brain Tumour Charity and Breast Cancer Now.
It was his fifth marathon which he completed, successfully, despite a minor knee injury a week before the event.
Mr Cairns said: “This has been the most enjoyable marathon I have completed, but also the most exhausting. I was pleased, but quite surprised, to finish with a personal best in under three and a half hours. My preparations were hampered by injury, but the crowds out in force today gave me that extra push. What is most important is the fantastic amount money raised for two excellent charities, Breast Cancer Now and the Brain Tumour Charity.”
