A POIGNANT Armistice Day tribute has been filmed on Barry Island, with a flying drone camera capturing a giant poppy drawn in the sand.

Barry man Matthew Lock, who runs Red Dragon Drones, filmed the video as a way of paying his respects to the memory of those who died in war.

Marking both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, Matthew shot footage of a giant poppy and the words "never forget" drawn in the sand at the Old Harbour on Barry Island. Colour was added to the footage later, creating the vivid red poppy seen at the end of the video.

Matthew and his business partner Keiron Wimbleton decided to use their cameras to create the unique tribute.

"It was just an idea I had one day," said Matthew, 38, "I spend quite a lot of time over the Island and I noticed how pristine the sand is.

"I always do something to mark Remembrance Sunday. everybody pays their respects so we just decided to use our resources to do it our way."

As well as the the Poppy in the Sand video Red Dragon Drones also shot footage of the recent Fireworks Display on Barry Island.
