BRYN Hafren Comprehensive pupils proved themselves to be the science boffins and literary professors of the future with those two subjects recording “best ever” results.

The English and Science departments deserved particular praise with 66 per cent of pupils achieving a very good English qualification and 95 per cent of pupils attaining science.

The school’s pupils once again showed they were top of the class, with almost 90 per cent achieving at least five good GCSE's helping them on their way to further study.

There was also a number of outstanding individual performances with Charlotte Rose achieving 8A*'s, 2 A's, Claudia Perry achieving 7A*'s, 2 A's, Janan Ahmed achieving 6A*'s, 3 A's, Daria Lalik achieving 5A*'s, 3A's, 2B's and Megan Bell achieving 3A*'s, 6A's

Claudia Perry, 16, of Barry, who will return to study A-levels in the sixth form, said: “My results are amazing. I didn’t think I did that well. I didn’t think I revised enough to get that.”

The Rose family, of Barry, shared daughter Charlotte’s GCSE joy; and all planned to celebrate with a family meal out.

Charlotte, 16, said: “I’m just really happy and shocked.”

Dad Richard added: “We are really proud of her. It’s a big thing. She’s done brilliant.”

Head teacher, Tyrone Davies said "These results are a positive recognition of the hard work of the pupils and staff of the school over the past 12 months. We look forward to having a record number of A-level students in Year 12 next year and wish those who are not returning the best of luck for their futures."
