Eleven students also added to their outstanding Mathematics GCSE results by gaining a prestigious qualification in Further Mathematics.

Particularly good results were achieved by Michael Bonney, who gained all his 13 GCSEs at A* or A, Taylor Hinchly, who secured 11 A* or A grades, Finnian Rees, with 10 A* or A grades.

Rhys Evans, Joshua Harris and John McAllister all achieved nine A* or A grades.

Headteacher Gerard McNamara said: "Students, staff and governors have all worked tremendously hard this year to make such a considerable improvement in our academic attainment.

"A big factor in our success has also been the constant support of parents, who always insist on high standards for our boys and regular homework being completed to a high standard.

"With this fantastic news we look forward to the year ahead and further improvements to celebrate.

"The vast majority of our students have now secured the grades they need to progress to our Sixth Form or other choices, which ensures we can all move forward together. Congratulations to all."
