A GROUND-BREAKING bilingual Welsh-English children’s album could become an international hit following its listing on online retailer Amazon.

The Barry-based Babi Bach-produced music CD Babi Bach The Album Yr Albwm - 12 nursery rhymes and songs sung in English and Welsh.

Babi Bach runs bilingual music classes for very young children whose parents either speak Welsh already or who want to learn.

The album was created after Penni Carr, who runs the business, wanted to create more resources for families who want a bilingual family and realised there was no bilingual English/Welsh music for children.

A crowd funding project to raise the funds needed for the studio and musical arrangements saw 56 people from all over the world help towards the total of £1.5k needed to start the album.

Penni said: “I am hoping that the album will sell, not only in Wales, but internationally too. With more and more Welsh centres popping up in places like America, Australia, England and of course Patagonia I truly believe that there is a big market for products like this. I hope it will inspire people to learn Welsh with their little ones, brush up any rusty Welsh learnt at school or help schools and nurseries to introduce Welsh into their curriculums.

“The reviews so far have been fantastic with little ones already telling me their favourite songs and singers. I wanted to create a very fresh, friendly feeling between the performers and the album and it seems little ones are responding very well to it so it should elevate this album above the normal kids album sound.”

The album available to buy online, via Amazon and Babi Bach or orders can be taken by emailing info@babibach.co.uk
